Designing a building which provides a community service to vulnerable people required a rethink to traditional approaches commonly used to house similar services. VIOTO looked to the surrounding environment of this coastal town to identify comforting elements that would allow visitors to feel a comfortable familiarity upon approach. A vernacular, almost residential approach, was taken to encourage feelings of visiting a friend at their home, rather than entering a community facility.
